Stanley Hot Springs-Selway Bitterroot Wilderness

Good bye summer, hello fall. Here comes old man winter.

Howard Ashby and I avenged ourselves of an aborted snow shoe hike last winter with a very successful backpack trip into Stanley Hot Springs.

Sure. Some years ago, it was Howard, Steve and I in another forest about this time of year. We hiked to Lake Estelle and Gem Lake out of Sandpoint ID. It was a good adventure.

Hi Chris, I was just googling trying to find some info on the Stanley Hot Springs and your blog popped up. My husband and I just finished grad school at the U of I up in Moscow, ID and would like to try to visit the hot springs some time this month. We have never been there before and don't know what to expect. Do you think the springs can be reached now, and would it be worth it or would the springs be too cold? We're pretty tough mountain type folk and could rent snow shoes if needed. Any info you could pass along about the trail and springs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Britt
